Before being relocated to make way for the Son La hydroelectric project, the landmark was located at the administrative center of the old Quynh Nhai district.
After the reservoir was formed, this location is now below the lake level, becoming a part of the historical memory of the land.

This landmark marks the place where the old district center used to be located, associated with the administrative, cultural and community life activities of the Quynh Nhai people.
It is a testament to the large-scale migration and resettlement process to build the Son La hydroelectric project - one of the most important projects of the country.
