Son La Hydroelectric Lake, located in Quynh Nhai District, Son La Province, is not only the largest hydroelectric project in Southeast Asia but also a unique eco-tourism destination with majestic natural landscapes. The reservoir belongs to the Sơn La hydropower lake area, stretching across the Quỳnh Nhai area, Mường La, and Thuận Châu districts of Sơn La Province.

This is the largest man-made water reservoir in Vietnam for the Sơn La Hydropower Plant, constructed on the Đà River (Black River). The reservoir has a surface area of over 224 km², with a capacity reaching approximately 9.26 billion m³, and an average depth ranging from 40–60 m.
